LING 100A – Foundations in Linguistics 1.

This course stood out to me as it emphasized the underlying principles and functions of language, familiarizing me with topics such as sounds patterns, words structure, and graphic representation, all of which I had not before considered, and pushed me to understand the mechanics behind everyday speech.

EOS 120 – The Dynamic Earth.

This course stood out to me as it taught about natural phenomenon such as plate boundaries, rocks, minerals, and groundwater, which improved my knowledge of and appreciation for the world around us. In particular, I was able to participate in a teacher education-centered lab component, which provided me with helpful resources such as activity and lesson plan guides.

ED-D 301 – Learners and Learning Environments.

This course stood out to me as it highlighted both Euro Western and Indigenous theories of child development, giving me a thorough awareness of the many process that take place in the elementary school classroom (psychological, behavioural, social, and emotional), as well as tools for nurturing them.

EDCI 303 – Historical and Philosophical Foundations of Canadian Education.

This course stood out to me as it explained the philosophical ideas founding the educational relationships and agreements existing within the current school system. I feel that knowledge of the preceding has helped me determine who I want to be as a future teacher, as well as equipped me with skills to effectively respond to any related conflict that I may encounter.
